Broadening Possibilities in Relationship: Yes, and...
How many times have you used the phrase “yes, but...” in a conversation with others? When you think about it, it has the effect of narrowing possibilities because it focuses on obstacles, on what is not possible, or the potential problems - problems that can be paralyzing or mind-narrowing. See what happens when you make the simple switch to “Yes, and...”.
You may find that it has the potential to broaden possibilities, to see beyond the problem and allow more acceptance of others’ ideas. This simple conscious switch fosters greater collaboration and invites others to put forth ideas without judgement or evaluation, building safety and enrichment in the relationship.
For more relationship-building expertise, please consider attending the upcoming “DATE Night” (Discover Authentic Truth in Each other) in Mississauga on September 17.

Personal Reflection
I have always commented to friends and family that I possess a very wide emotional bandwidth :-) What do I mean? Well, that I experience very extreme emotions and although I don’t always show them, I process them and experience them in ways that give me great, great highs and very low lows.
With the balancing of growing enSpire Coaching as well as building a new business, the e-Spot™, taking good care of myself and fully loving my family and my friends, my emotions have been on one helluva ride! A few highlights to share perhaps...
- Passion – when I share my vision of the e-Spot™
- Purpose - ... when those who hear my vision say “wow, it’s just what I need”
- Pride – when my daughter came home the first day of being in a new school and said she loved it
- Frustration – when suppliers overpromise, underdeliver and don’t take responsibility for the gap
- Inspiration – when my other daughter chose to go with her heart rather than with peer pressure
- Anger – when people with huge potential choose to live very small lives
- Sadness – when traditions end because friendships end
- Freaked-out – when I look at the financial investment I made to create the e-Spot™
- Excitement – when members sign up and join in my excitement
- Safe – when I am in my husband’s arms
- Relief – when I was able to turnaround a poor decision before it got too bad
- Gratitude – to my friend Diana for her love, support and championing
- Exhaustion – every single day
- Love – all the time
What a ride! What’s your ride look like?
