Successful people hold a number of attributes in common.  We have a mindset that is the foundation of how we operate, how we communicate and how we think.  Take a look at the range of possibilities below regarding how you can CHOOSE your thoughts.  I received this in a program  back in the days when I was affiliated with lululemon athletica, a yoga-inspired clothing company, now a resounding international success story of its own.

Take a look at where you lie in the dichotomy of these opposing thoughts.  As you can appreciate, the ones on the left are predominant in the minds of successful people.

Possibility vs. constraint

Future focus vs. past focus

Optimism vs. pessimism

Listening/curiosity vs. judging

Responsibility vs. excuses

Charity vs. greed

Win/win vs. win/lose

Peace vs. clutter

Where do you tend to focus your thoughts?  Remember, what we focus on expands.

It's been really interesting to experience 6am.  Huh? You say! For the past week, I have committed to getting up at 6am.  I am working on developing a new nutrition and exercise habit and the only way I can fit the exercise into my days is by getting up early and doing it then.  So....experiencing 6am has been a whole new world to me.  You see, I have always gotten up at 6:50am with my kids but have had a mental block about getting up earlier for myself.  I thought I would be tired all the time and was resistant to making that change.  What's been so amazing about getting up at 6am for me is that I get to create my day when no one else seems ready for the day yet.  I feel clear, peaceful and that I have given myself a little gift of "self" every morning.  What have I learned?  That perceived or anticipated emotions around an upcoming event becomes reality if we choose to focus on it.  At first, I chose to think "I can't – it's too early"; now, I think about how much of a gift it is and I look forward to it every night before I go to bed.  Good night!
